A day after Mel B’s bombshell interview with “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morganin which she said she slept with bandmate Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, the “America’s Got Talent” judge went into “nothing-to-see-here, move-along” mode, insisting in a radio interview that the tryst was “just a little bit of a thing back in the day” and that her post-interview phone call to her bandmate was no big thing, either.
Ahead of this summer’s Spice Girls’ reunion tour, Mel B (formerly known as Scary Spice) confirmed to Piers Morgan that she slept with bandmate Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice back in the girl group’s 1990s heyday.
“You were coming here to be brutally honest,” Morgan said, asking her point-blank, “Did or didn’t you sleep with Geri Halliwell?”
At first, the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge, 43, insisted that she and her bandmate “slept in a bed together, but not like that,” but then nodded when Morgan asked her if things escalated with Halliwell.
“She’s going to hate me for this because she’s all posh in her country house with her husband,” Mel B said of Halliwell, who married Formula 1 racing team boss Christian Horner in 2015.
The camera then cut to the live audience, showing the flabbergasted reaction of Mel B and Halliwell’s fellow Spice Girls bandmate, “Sporty Spice” Mel C.
The Spice Girls reunion tour everyone — except Victoria Beckham — has been talking about for months is finally official. Time
After watching the interview, “Good Morning Britain” co-anchor Susannah Reid observed that Mel B. “couldn’t help herself. She still could have said, ‘I’m not going to talk about it.’ “
Morgan explained, “There was a lot of flurried activity after the recording,” and claimed that after the interview finished taping Friday, Mel B stepped off the set following her interview to call Halliwell.
“I said, ”Where’s Mel?’ ” he recalled. “They said, ‘She’s just making a call to try and smooth things over.'”

During her Tuesday conversation with 2Day FM, Mel B clarified what she said in the interview, saying, “I actually didn’t really admit to anything … I just admitted we had a little bit of a thing back in the day and that’s it. It happened one night.”
Regarding the phone call to Halliwell afterward that she seemed to be dreading, she said that too was nothing.
“I was on the phone with Geri. It was all tongue-in-cheek and I didn’t go into detail,” she recounted.. “I don’t now why everyone is making such a big deal about it.”
Following the initial reports of the Mel B revelations, a 2003 Howard Stern interview with Halliwell resurfaced, in which she admitted to “having lesbian sex once” with a bandmate and that she could “never say who it was.”
In the interview, Halliwell told Stern, “I realized pretty quickly I was not a lesbian. I don’t mind boobs but the other bit is not my cup of tea. I didn’t like the lesbian thing. It is part of experimenting. I was drunk at the time.”
A decade later, Howard Stern asked Mel B in an additional interview if she was attracted to her bandmates.
“Always, yes, they’re my homies,” she said, claiming that she “kissed all of them” before cheekily ducking out of the interview with a smile when Stern asked her if she’d slept with any of them.
